Who is Clare Gaunt

Hello, my name is Clare! I have always loved drawing and painting, but I used to make a living in dance. I went to ballet school and then travelled the world performing in fantastic productions on cruise ships.

My love of art was always bubbling away so I painted whenever I could, including sketching the stunning ports I was lucky enough to visit, the landscapes I discovered and the people I met on my travels.

I couldn’t think of a present for my mother-in-law so I painted her dog and a friend remarked that I should look into painting full time. Only now that my children are a bit older have I been able to concentrate on developing my love of art into a business. I decided to focus on pet portraits, which suits me perfectly as it also incorporates my love of animals.

Bringing people’s pets to life on paper with watercolour is such a joy, and hearing feedback from clients saying I’ve managed to capture their personalities is incredibly rewarding.

I’ve been commissioned to paint many beloved pets (and even some of their owners!), and I’m looking forward to painting many more in the future.
